Step-by-Step

Follow these steps in order to maximize your time and progress through the various quest lines efficiently.

Phase 1: Boosting Your Faith and Planning

  1. Your very first priority is generating enough Faith (Fé) to satisfy the Rat.
  2. Upgrade Your Church with Benches: Go to the Technology tree, unlock Comfort of Faith in the Theology tab, and build the maximum amount of Benches inside your Church (you’ll need 6 Wooden Planks and 6 Nails per bench). This will significantly boost the quality of your Church, netting you more Faith from Bishop sermons.
  3. Plant More Crops: Always keep your farm running. Buy Carrot and Wheat seeds from the Farmer to ensure you have enough food for yourself and carrots for the Donkey.

Phase 2: Preparing the Inquisitor’s Delivery (Pamphlets)

  1. The Inquisitor needs Firewood (which you probably have) and 10 Pamphlets.
  2. Buy Ink: Visit the Astrologer at the Lighthouse on a Star Day and buy Ink. It costs 2.50 Silver per unit.
  3. Unlock Writing & Paper: In the Technology tree (Construction tab), unlock Paper Production (red points only) and Writing (uses 5 Blue Points).
  4. Build the Stations:
    • Head to the Church Cellar and build the Church Workbench and the Writing Desk. The Workbench requires Complex Iron Parts, so make sure your Anvil is running!
  5. Craft the Pamphlets:
    • Use the Skin (from those low-quality bodies you strip) at the Writing Desk to create Pigskin Paper.
    • Use the Paper and the Ink you bought to craft all 10 Pamphlets.
  6. Deliver and Unlock: When the Inquisitor (Sun Day) appears, deliver the Firewood and the Pamphlets. He will reward you by unlocking the Vineyard area on Witch’s Hill.

Phase 3: The Infinite Resource Secret

  1. Stop wasting time collecting wood and running out of fuel! This is a massive game changer.
  2. Find the Quarry: Exit your house, go left, cross the first bridge, and walk straight up, past the area where you get honey. Keep going until you reveal a new area: the Quarry (Pedreira).
  3. Unlock Mining: In the Technology tree (Construction tab), unlock the Mining skill. It costs 0 Blue Points!.
  4. Go Infinite: Now, at the Quarry, you can mine Coal (right side) and Iron Ore (left side) infinitely. Seriously, grab as much Coal as you can!
  5. Build a Second Furnace: Now that you have endless fuel, build a second Furnace (Fornalha) next to the first one to double your Iron production.

Phase 4: The Rat, The Key, and the Dungeon

  1. This phase unlocks the whole zombie side of the game.
  2. Give the Faith: On a Green Moon Day night, find the Rat/Snake in the Church Cellar and hand over your 5 Faith. He gives you instructions to make a key.
  3. Craft the Active Key: Go to the Study Table and combine the Gravedigger’s Key (from a previous Astrologer quest) + the Instructions + 2 Faith + Science to create the Active Key.
  4. Open the Dungeon: Give the Active Key back to the Rat. He opens the gate to the Dungeon.
  5. Checkpoint: First Death: You enter the dungeon and trigger a cutscene, immediately leading to your first death! Don’t panic, this is supposed to happen. You wake up at home.
  6. Meet the Zombie Guy: Return to the Dungeon immediately. You will meet Gunter, who explains the zombie system and gives you the blueprint for the Resurrection Table and 3 Zombie Juices.
  7. Retrieve the Diary: The Astrologer’s Diary is lying on the ground where you died in the Dungeon (Level 1). Grab it!
  8. Find Your First Zombie: Head to the area north of your house (past the Church) where you collect honey. You will find a hidden Zombie with a magnifying glass icon. Interact with it to claim your first undead helper.

Phase 5: Witchcraft and Alchemy Prep

  1. With the Diary and the Acid, you can advance the final quest lines for this part.
  2. Get a Healing Potion: Go to the Dungeon (Level 1) and smash barrels and crates until you find a Healing Potion.
  3. Deliver to the Witch: Go to the Witch/Clotho in the Swamp. Give her the Healing Potion. This unlocks her as a trader.
  4. Buy the Acid: Negotiate with the Witch and buy the Acid for 5 Silver.
  5. Final Deliveries: Return to the Astrologer on Star Day and deliver the Diary and the Acid. He now needs tools from the Rat to clean the rest of the book, setting up the next phase.

Useful Tips

  • Underground Shortcuts: Use your new Circular Saw (Serra Circular) to craft Wooden Beams (Vigas de Madeira). Use these beams and Simple Parts to clear the roadblocks in the underground tunnels of the Church Cellar, linking the Morgue and the basement for quick travel.
  • Morgue Storage: Build a Pallet in the Morgue (costs 1 Simple Iron Part and 1 Nail) to store low-quality bodies before cremation. This prevents the Donkey from holding up deliveries, as the capacity is increased.
  • Carve Everything: Even if a body is terrible quality and destined for the Crematorium, strip it first! Skin, Fat, and Bones are crucial for crafting, and you need the Skin for the Pamphlets (Pigskin Paper).
  • Organize the Cellar: Now that you’re accumulating lots of body parts (Heart, Intestine, Brain), build Storage Chests in the cellar and separate them. These items don’t stack and will quickly fill your inventory if you keep them upstairs.

What Comes Next in Part 5

The next part will be all about getting your Alchemy Lab up and running and setting your first Zombie to work!

  • Alchemy: The Astrologer needs restoration tools from the Rat to clean the rest of the Diary. This will likely involve trading with the Rat and then finally unlocking the rest of the Alchemy Tech to cure the Merchant.
  • Zombie Automation: We’ve found the first Zombie! Next, we’ll focus on setting him up at a newly built Zombie Sawmill (Serralheria) to provide endless free planks and materials. The grind is officially coming to an end!
